Title

Is it ok to read standing or sitting next to the graveyard of Muslims by looking from the Quran?

Question

Is it ok to read standing or sitting next to the graveyard of Muslims by looking from the Quran? Has it been done by any of our predecessors? Will it be considered bid’ah? Can a person do a khatam day by day, sitting with a Quran in the hand looking and reading.

What’s the hukm? Does it disturb the respect of grave or the Quran?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘Alaikum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

It is permissible to recite the Quran at the graveyard of Muslims by looking in the Quran, especially for those who cannot read it from memory on condition one does not regard the practice of looking in the Quran and reading at the graveyard compulsory. If one regard such a practice to be compulsory, then it will be an act of bid’ah (innovation). [1] [2]
