Title

Explanation of the Ayat 16 of Surah 26.

Question

Assalamu Alaykum,

Mufti Saheb please could you answer the other questions i have asked last month. Christians have been asking me these questions and i have no clue, so it's so important to me for these questions to be answered, so i can answer them in the UK.

They said,

In Surah 26 verse 16, it mentions: "Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds," Is the word رسولا Rasula, singular, if so, should it be messenger?

If it is plural, could you provide any reference?

Jazakallah Khair

Answer

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The word رسول in Surah Shua’rah, ayat 16 is written as singular, but it is referring to Musa Alaihi Salam and Haroon Alaihi Salam.[1]
