Where should the Muazzin stand when giving the second Azaan of Jummah


Asalaamualaykum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu Mufti Saheb Please clarify the correct and established practice according to our hanafi madhab about where the muazzin (azaan caller) should stand when calling the second azaan of jumuah? I have heard that the muazzin should stand directly in front of the khateeb / Imam who is normally sitting on the pulpit waiting to start the khutbah and that this way is closest to the sunnah method? I have seen other muazzins stand in different places when calling the second azaan of Jummah I.e. On the sides of the pulpit. Kindly clarify the correct method. JazakhAllahu Khairan

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The Muazzin should call out the second Adhaan of Jumma directly in front of the Imam while he is sitting on the Mimbar.

 قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ خُطْبَتَيْنِ، كَانَ يَجْلِسُ إذَا صَعِدَ الْمِنْبَرَ حَتَّى يَفْرُغَ أَذَانُ الْمُؤَذِّنِ، ثُمَّ يَقُومُ فَيَخْطُبُ، ثُمَّ يَجْلِسُ، فَلَا يَتَكَلَّمُ، وَيَقُومُ، فَيَخْطُبُ، انْتَهَى. وَالْعُمَرِيُّ فِيهِ مَقَالٌ. نصب الراية لأحاديث الهداية مع حاشيته بغية الألمعي في تخريج الزيلعي (2/ 197)

 وأمّا الجمعة فمثل باقي الصّلوات لا يجوز الأذان لها قبل دخول الوقت ، وللجمعة أذانان ، أوّلهما عند دخول الوقت ، وهو الّذي يؤتى به من خارج المسجد - على المئذنة ونحوها - وقد أمر به سيّدنا عثمان رضي الله عنه حين كثر النّاس. والثّاني وهو الّذي يؤتى به إذا صعد الإمام على المنبر ، ويكون داخل المسجد بين يدي الخطيب ، وهذا هو الّذي كان في عهد النّبيّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وعهد أبي بكر وعمر حتّى أحدث عثمان الأذان الثّاني . الموسوعة الفقهية الكويتية (2/ 479، بترقيم الشاملة آليا)


و" كذا "الجلوس على المنبر قبل الشروع في الخطبة والأذان بين يديه" جرى به التوارث "كالإقامة" بعد الخطبة "ثم قيامه" بعد الأذان في الخطبتين ولو قعد فيهما أو في إحداهما أجزأ وكره من غير عذر وإن خطب مضطجعا أجزأ. حاشية الطحطاوي على مراقي الفلاح شرح نور الإيضاح (ص: 515)
