Question

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Please advise on the following.

The meaning of the name Kauthar/ kawthar and correct spelling used.

Jazakallah in advance.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Kawthar refers to abundant goodness (الْخَيْرُ الْكَثِير). Allah Taalah revealed Surah Al-Kawthar in the Quraan, which refers to a river or a spring in Jannah. [i]

The correct spelling of كوثر is Kawthar or Kauthar.
