Title: Can I slaughter a giraffe for Qurbani?

Question

Assalamualaykum 

1. Is giraffe or zebra permissible for slaughter for Qurbani.

2. If one makes wudhu, the goes to perform salaah, and sees dirt beneath the nails during salaah or sees the dirt after reading salaah  will the salaah be valid?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

1.      It is not permissible to slaughter a giraffe or zebra for qurbani.[1]

2.      The wudhu and salat is valid.[2]

بدائع الصنائع في ترتيب الشرائع (5/ 69)

أما جنسه فهو أن يكون من الأجناس الثلاثة الغنم أو الإبل أو البقر، ويدخل في كل جنس نوعه والذكر والأنثى منه والخصي والفحل لانطلاق اسم الجنس على ذلك، والمعز نوع من الغنم، والجاموس نوع من البقر بدليل أنه يضم ذلك إلى الغنم والبقر في باب الزكاة

قال أبو جعفر: (ولا تجزئ الأضحية بما سوى هذه الثلاثة الأصناف)، ولا خلاف في ذلك بين أهل العلم

فتح القدير للكمال ابن الهمام (1/ 16)

وفي الجامع الأصغر: إن كان وافر الأظفار وفيها درن أو طين أو عجين أو المرأة تضع الحناء جاز في القروي والمدني.

قال الدبوسي: هذا صحيح وعليه الفتوى.

وقال الإسكاف: يجب إيصال الماء إلى ما تحته إلا الدرن لتولده منه
