Listening to music with words of Kufr


Aslaamualaikum Mufti Sahib. I would really appreciate it if you reply please. 1 )Is a Muslim a kaafir if he listens to songs that contain kufr words/statements and maybe enjoys/likes these songs without having any belief in the kufr words and statements or without paying much attention to the kufr lyrics, words and statements?


2) Is a Muslim a kaafir if he enjoys and likes the sound, melody, music, tune, sound of the words, sound of the music, sound of the song etc without believing and paying much attention to the kufr lyrics, words and statements that are in the very same song? Please help.

Is it kufr if a Muslim likes, enjoys and listens to songs/lyrics that contain words or statements of kufr, even thought he/she might not believe in them?

The Muslim does not sing verbally.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

A muslim is sensitive to his Imaan and Tawheed. He is averse to anything relating to kufr, let alone liking words of kufr. To like kufr and enjoy statements of kufr is also kufr. It is not sufficient for one to merely avoid singing songs/lyrics of kufr. One should not even hear such songs and lyrics.

وفي «فتاوى أهل سمرقند» استماع صوت الملاهي كالضرب بالقصب، وغير ذلك من الملاهي حرام، وقد قال عليه السلام: «استماع الملاهي معصية والجلوس عليها فسق والتلذذ بها من الكفر» وهكذا خرج على وجه التشديد بعظم الذنب؛ قالوا: إلا أن يسمع نفسه فيكون معذوراً، والواجب على كل أحد أن يجتهد حتى لا يسمع.

صوت اللهو والغناء ينبت النفاق في القلب كما ينبت الماء النبات. قلت: وفي البزازية استماع صوت الملاهي كضرب قصب ونحوه حرام لقوله - عليه الصلاة والسلام - «استماع الملاهي معصية والجلوس عليها فسق والتلذذ بها كفر» أي بالنعمة فصرف الجوارح إلى غير ما خلق لأجله كفر بالنعمة لا شكر فالواجب كل الواجب أن يجتنب كي لا يسمع لما روي «أنه - عليه الصلاة والسلام - أدخل أصبعه في أذنه عند سماعه» وأشعار العرب لو فيها ذكر الفسق

أن كل ذلك مكروه عند علمائنا. واحتج بقوله تعالى - {ومن الناس من يشتري لهو الحديث} [لقمان: 6]-

 واستماع صوت الملاهي حرام كالضرب بالقصب وغيره قال عليه الصلاة والسلام { : استماع الملاهي معصية والجلوس عليها فسق والتلذذ بها كفر } وهذا خرج على وجه التشديد لا أنه يكفر وعن الحسن بن زياد لا بأس بأن يكون في العرس دف يضرب به ليشتهر ويعلن النكاح
