Title: Meaning of the name 'Rumaisa'

Question

Asalamu alaikum wrwb mufti sahab I wanted to ask the meaning and Arabic pronunciation of name Rumaisa. It was the name of Hadhrat Anas bin Malik RA's mother.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.           As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Rumaysaa is an Arabic name for girls. It is the name of a Sahabiyyah, whose full name is Umme Sulaym Rumaysaa bint Milhan. She is the wife of Abu Talha al-Ansaari Radiallahu Anhu and the mother of Anas bin Malik Radiallahu Anhu. The pronunciation of the name is رميصاء  . Rumaysaa is a star known as Sirius in English.[1]
