Title: Interest bearing student loan


Assalamu alaykum, I have taken an interest bearing loan and have come to realize its seriousness. I cannot take do anything about it now. So I am giving all my efforts to pay back the whole loan, approximately equal £45000 within 5 years (before I graduate). Once I graduate, interest is then only added on. before that there is no interest in the loan. If I manage to pay it all off by working before I graduate, would this loan then be halal? 


In the likely event that I don't finish paying off approx £45000 but have exerted all my efforts and cut all spending excluding the necessity, could I still be forgiven? Is there anything I should do now to fix my issue?

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

We commend you on your courage and strength of Imāan.

In principle, it is not permissible to take an interest-bearing loan. [1]

The very contract itself is prohibited even though one may pay the loan timeously and avoid paying interest.

We advise you to pay the debt as soon as possible and make Tawbah and Istighfaar for the sin you have committed and make a firm resolve never to involve yourself in Riba based transactions. You may also give some Sadaqah, which helps dispel and alleviate the wrath of Allah (Ta’alah).

We make du῾ā’ Allah opens His doors of sustenance for you and provide you with all your requirements in a halal manner.  Aameen.

اگر اموال ربویہ سے قرض لینے کا مطلب یہ ہو کہ قرض بینک سے لیتا ہے اور اس پر سود ادا کریگا تو یہ درست نہیں کیونکہ جامعہ کی تعلیم فرض نہیں اور نہ انتہائی مجبوری ہےے کہ اس کے لیے ناجائز کا ارتکاب کیا جاۓ
