Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The earthquake is a powerful dream symbol because the anxious emotions that it stirs in you while the earthquake is happening in the dream. Earthquake usually symbolizes major shakeup that is threatening your stability and foundation of life. You may be feeling insecure about your job positions, or fear that you might lose the loved ones important to you. The dream highlights your insecurity, fears and sense of helplessness.

The earthquake is a threat by the ruler. [1] If one sees the earth caving in under him, he will suffer a severe chastisement. An earthquake in dream usually means a bitter illness or a plague hitting the population of the town or a severe cold weather, or it could mean a drought. An earthquake in a dream is also interpreted to indicate major changes in that particular place, or a calamity that will befall a town or a country.

You are in a better position to interpret the dream as the dream relates to you. You should consider your location, what you are doing, the people that you might be with, as well as your own personal emotions while the quake is shaking the earth. These minute details can help you interpret the dream better. If you find cover from the quake, you will overcome these challenges.

Turn to Allah and ask for protection from evil. Offer some sadaqa to remove difficulties and hardships. Also make Istighfār and seek Allah’s help and guidance.
