Title: Misc. Walima Questions.

If someone is holding their nikkah overseas and in the next day or the next two days, they feed the poor people in the area, will that count as a walimah? Do the people recieving the food need to know that this food is for a walimah? If those being fed are people that are strangers to the couple, does the walimah count? Is there a certain amount of food that should be given? If the event is not held in a particular hall or field, but just people are fed in a certain town, is that also okay? please make dua for us

Jazakallah Khair

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

  1. The Walima will be fulfilled.
  2. It is not necessary for the people to know the food is Walima food.
  3. The Walima will be fulfilled to the strangers.
  4. Walima does not have to be in a hall or field.
