Title: Qurbaani Animals and Neighbours being Hurt

Question

Very beautiful & knowledge filled guidance in the lecture on (B.E.E.P) Masaa'il Pertaining to Qurbani.

May almighty Allah accept your hard work & grant you success in both the worlds, save you from the hardships of both the worlds.

I have a small query pertaining to the lecture, hazrat has recommended to purchase the Qurbani animal a few days before the Eid (day of Qurbani), so as to get familiar & attached to the animal & have more inclination towards the feel of sacrifice.

But its been observed (especially in INDIA, mumbai crowded & space crunch city).

that a number of people bring qurbani animals a few days before the day of Qurbani (Eid ul Adha). And they (these people) either stay in mixed societies of various religion or Muslims only. They keep their animals tied to their doors or building entrances or sometimes building terrace; where the animal being animal makes lot of noise & dirt (urine & excreta). These animals sometimes even block doors of others, block free passage of neighbours, sometimes HIT the passerby & injury them.

Some even go to the extent of bringing animal for Qurbani in ONE Year advance & make trouble to others.

My question here is, is such act permissible?

will such Qurbani be acceptable in sight of almighty who loves peace & emphasis so much on the rights of neighbours?

what kind of image does this act represnt in sight of fellow non-muslim neighbors!

{i hope no other part of the world face this}

In no sense i have any objection to Noble, Pious & Great act of Qurbani, may almighty ALLAH forgive me; but i have concerns to the way it is being carried out.

If my above query is valid, my urge and humble request to you is to please share some knowledge to me & our fellow muslims on this.

Please guide me in the light of Quran & Ahadith

And please dua for my forgiveness to almighty ALLAH & i understand & accept the light of ISLAM.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Jazakallahu-Khayra for your duaas.

Islam is a perfect and complete religion. Islam has given everyone their rights including animals. Whilst Qurbaani is a very virtuous act, Muslims ought to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner without causing any harm or discomfort to any human-being irrespective of faith.

As you state, Hazrat Mufti Ebrahim Sahib (Hafidhahullah) recommended to purchase the Qurbaani animal a few days before the Eid (day of Qurbaani), so as to get familiar & attached to the animal & have more inclination towards the feel of sacrifice. Whilst that said, it should be understood in the context of not causing harm or discomfort to anyone. Whilst this is a recommended act, to cause harm to fellow humans is forbidden. Thus, one should ensure that the Qurbaani animals are kept in such a place that does not inconvenience anyone. [1]
