Can we eat the food ( Veg ) given by Non- Muslim Friend or neighbor 

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Mos1t Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

As Muslims we should always be conscious regarding the source of our food. The reason for this is that we believe that the food we eat directly affects our actions and duas. Allah says:

{ يَاأَيُّهَا الرُّسُلُ كُلُوا مِنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَاعْمَلُوا صَالِحًا إِنِّي بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ عَلِيمٌ} [المؤمنون: 51]

Oh messengers, eat from that which is pure (wholesome) and do good deeds. Verily I am absolutely aware of the actions you do.

We should also show courtesy and good character to our neighbors without compromising our values. This can be a means of showing the true values of Islam. Accepting their invitations is a way to express this.[i]

In principle, it is permissible to eat a vegetable dish if there is no haram ingredient in the food and there was no contamination of haram in preparing the food. [ii]

وَلَا بَأْسَ بِأَنْ يَصِلَ الرَّجُلُ الْمُسْلِمَ وَالْمُشْرِكَ قَرِيبًا كَانَ أَوْ بَعِيدًا مُحَارِبًا كَانَ أَوْ ذِمِّيًّا وَأَرَادَ بِالْمُحَارَبِ الْمُسْتَأْمَنِ وَأَمَّا إذَا كَانَ غَيْرَ الْمُسْتَأْمَنِ فَلَا يَنْبَغِي لِلْمُسْلِمِ أَنْ يَصِلَهُ بِشَيْءٍ كَذَا فِي الْمُحِيطِ .

وَذَكَرَ الْقَاضِي الْإِمَامُ رُكْنُ الْإِسْلَامِ عَلِيٌّ السُّغْدِيُّ إذَا كَانَ حَرْبِيًّا فِي دَارِ الْحَرْبِ وَكَانَ الْحَالُ حَالَ صُلْحٍ وَمُسَالَمَةٍ فَلَا بَأْسَ بِأَنْ يَصِلَهُ كَذَا فِي التَّتَارْخَانِيَّة .

وَلَا بَأْسَ بِطَعَامِ الْيَهُودِ وَالنَّصَارَى كُلِّهِ مِنْ الذَّبَائِحِ وَغَيْرِهَا وَيَسْتَوِي الْجَوَابُ بَيْنَ أَنْ يَكُونَ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى مِنْ أَهْلِ الْحَرْبِ أَوْ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَهْلِ الْحَرْبِ وَكَذَا يَسْتَوِي أَنْ يَكُونَ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى مِنْ بَنِي إسْرَائِيلَ أَوْ مِنْ غَيْرِهِمْ كَنَصَارَى الْعَرَبِ وَلَا بَأْسَ بِطَعَامِ الْمَجُوسِ كُلِّهِ إلَّا الذَّبِيحَةَ ، فَإِنَّ ذَبِيحَتَهُمْ حَرَامٌ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ مُحَمَّدٌ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى الْأَكْلَ مَعَ الْمَجُوسِيِّ وَمَعَ غَيْرِهِ مِنْ أَهْلِ الشِّرْكِ أَنَّهُ هَلْ يَحِلُّ أَمْ لَا وَحُكِيَ عَنْ الْحَاكِمِ الْإِمَامِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْكَاتِبِ أَنَّهُ إنْ اُبْتُلِيَ بِهِ الْمُسْلِمُ مَرَّةً أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ فَلَا بَأْسَ بِهِ وَأَمَّا الدَّوَامُ عَلَيْهِ فَيُكْرَهُ كَذَا فِي الْمُحِيطِ .

 

 

فتاوی محمودیہ (57/27) فاروقیہ

البتہ اگر عمر میں ایک دو مرتبہ کہی ایسا ابتلا ہو جائے تو کوئی مضائقہ نہیں بشرطیکہ نا پاکی کا علم نہ ہو اگر معلوم ہو جائے کہ یہ کھانا پانی ناپاک ہے تو پھر اسکا کھانا پینا حرام ہے
