Title: Using sperm donor to have baby

Question

Me and my wife are trying to have baby for last four years but not luck. When we checked with our Doctors, we found I have no sperms due to Unknow issue. Could not find any solutions for this. We tried to adopts a baby in Canada but not luck. We try to adopt a baby from Pakistan but Canada baned any kind of adoption from Pakistan.

Also international adoptions are too much. The only solutions is left to have a baby, we use sperm donor to have a baby. Is using sperm donation allowed to have a baby in this situation. Also do we have any option to have baby. My wife like babies so much. She just staying home as house wife and she don't like to go out for work. Please help Jazakallah

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

We take note of your predicament and make dua that Allah grant you Sabr and happiness in this condition.

Pregnancy through sperm donation is not permissible.

We advise to continue exploring avenues of medical treatment and adoption.

The political and war climate in Syria etc. presents opportunities for adoption. We also understand that adoption in Morocco is relatively easier. You may research that.

Obviously, our main support is our Iman and dua. Be positive and focus on the power of Allah. Allah alone can change and do as He pleases.[1]

[1] Allah says in the Quran:

لِلَّهِ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاءُ ۚ يَهَبُ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ إِنَاثًا وَيَهَبُ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ الذُّكُورَ {49}

أَوْ يُزَوِّجُهُمْ ذُكْرَانًا وَإِنَاثًا ۖ وَيَجْعَلُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ عَقِيمًا ۚ إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ قَدِيرٌ {50}

To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. He creates what He wills. He gives to whom He wills, female (children), and He gives to whom He wills males.

Or He makes them (both) males and females, and He renders whom He wills barren. Indeed, He is Knowing and Competent. (Quran 42:49-50)

Allah also reminds us;

وَعَسَىٰ أَنْ تَكْرَهُوا شَيْئًا وَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ ۖ وَعَسَىٰ أَنْ تُحِبُّوا شَيْئًا وَهُوَ شَرٌّ لَكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنْتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ {216}

Perhaps you dislike something and it is good for you; and perhaps you love something and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not. (Quran 2:216)
