What is the ruling regarding making salaam to people engaged in a conversation?

Some people were discussing. Now, which one is morality according to Islam.

Say Salaam to them while crossing them.

Or avoid Salaam as they were busy in discussion and salaam will break their concentration or make disturbance in their discussion.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

It is makrooh (disliked) to make salaam to people engaged in a conversation. [i]
