Should I make Istikharah for the boy I have in mind for marriage?

My question is that I have someone for marriage in mind but I don't have anyone who can take my proposal to him. I wanted to know if I could perform Istekhara to know if that person is good for me or not without sending the proposal to him. Please advise me if I should do Istekhara or not.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Marriage is a crucial moment in a person’s life. Choosing the right partner is one of the most important decisions for a person which has far-reaching consequences.

You are young. You have not witnessed and experienced the different waves of life that mature you to be able to make the most appropriate decision. Your parents or your guardians have the required maturity, insight and love to help you decide. Therefore you must confide in your parents or your guardians and seek their wise counsel on the issue before making any haphazard decision.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
