Zakat of creditor

My questions related to Zakat ,,,

I gave 800,000 to my brother as a loan , now this money is not in my bank .

and my brother send back me this money around 2 to 3 years ...

So would be Zakat is applicable on this money during this 2 to 3 years ?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Dear Brother,

Your question is not clear. You state the money is not in your bank. Then you state your brother paid (send back) you the money about two to three years (ago). You may redraft your query and resend your query.

However, in general, zakat is payable on debts receivables. If your brother owed you money, you may pay zakat on that amount every year according to your personal financial situation or upon receiving the debt for the duration of the debt.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
