Reciting du’aas that are not established from Hadith

Assalawalaikum  are there any authentic duas one could read during pregnancy that may inshallah determine the gender of the newborn. I have read a dua in Behesti Zewar (Part XI AAMAL E Qurani 14) this is for a boy, is there a similar dua for a girl. Also do these prescribed duas in Behesti Zewar are backed up from authentic books. Or would reading this be a type of biddah?

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

At the outset, it is important to understand that it is Allaah Ta’aala who grants couples children and it is He who deprives them of children. It is He who grants them male offspring and it is He who grants them female offspring. Consider the following verse:

يَهَبُ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ إِنَاثًا وَيَهَبُ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ الذُّكُورَ (49) أَوْ يُزَوِّجُهُمْ ذُكْرَانًا وَإِنَاثًا وَيَجْعَلُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ عَقِيمًا إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ قَدِيرٌ

Translation: He grants to whomever He so wills female offspring and He grants to whomever He so wills male offspring. Or He bestows (upon some) both males and females. And He makes barren whomever He so wills. Indeed, He is All-Knowing, All-mighty. (Ash-Shooraa v.49-50)

There are no special du’aas for male or female offspring. One may make du’aa to Allaah Ta’aala for what he wishes. The du’aas mentioned by the jurists such as the author of Behishti Zewar are Qur’aanic verses that have been suggested based on experience. It is permissible to recite them and act upon them as long as one does not consider them to be from the sunnah. Reciting them would not constitute bid’ah[1].

And Allaah Ta’aala Knows Best.
