Title

Protecting oneself from nazr

Question

Assaalamalikum wrb, I get nazar(Evil Eye) very quickly if some one comment about my looks or if some one comment about my academical hike then i get nazar very quickly. And i fall sick and not willing to do that particular work. I Would like to know is there any specific dua with which i can be procted. Is there any thing know as nasar in our Islam. Jazak Allah Khair.

Answer

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

We make du’aa that Allaah Ta’aala keeps you sound and healthy. Aameen.

While the effect of nazr (evil eye) is true and proven in the Ahaadith[1], it is incorrect to assume every sickness and problem to be an effect of nazr. There may be other reasons to your sickness. Consider seeing a physician.

Nevertheless, if you do believe that you are affected by nazr, then you should recite Surah Al-Falaq (113)[2], Surah An-Naas (114)[3] and Ayatul Kursi (Al-Baqarah v.255) after every fardh salaah.

Also, recite the following du’aas thrice every morning and evening:

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لاَ يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلاَ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

“In the Name of Allah, who with His Name, nothing in the earth or the heavens can cause harm, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing.” (Tirmidhi 3388)

أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

“I take refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He created.” (Abu Dawood 3898)

And Allaah Ta’aala Knows Best.
