Assalam O Alaikum

My name is Muhammad Akbar. Why Amir Mu'awia(RAT) not considered as Khalifa e Rashid........?????

I have this question that very recently I have read and listened to some true facts about Hazrat Amir Mu'awia (RAT). Now I sincerely think that on what basis and facts, the muslim Ulemas do not consider him as the Kjalifa e Rashid. His Khalifa time was the largest among the sahabas. He was from a generation that was the best one he was not from taba'een or the taba taba'een but he was a sahabi (RAT). He had a very large teritory and his time was peaceful. On the other hand Hazrat Ali (RAT), his time was full of crises He (RAT) may Allah Bless him, had to fight against the inner muslims. He (Ali -RAT) had to fight  with other sahabas due to Jews fitna. I have not a single doubt on his personality. But why... why ...why...? Amir Mu'awia is not considered as the rightly guided Khalifa (Khalifa e Rashid). When Hazrat Ali's Son I think Imam Hasan (RAT) agreed to his(Mu'awias) Khilafa. Then who are we to not give him that respect and position.

The only thing that I think is that may be there are some ahadith of the Great Prophet(SAW) about the Khulafa e Rashideen. Is it so..........Kindly give my mind the right answer. If there are ahadith kindly tell me Insha'Allah it will be enough for me.  may Allah bless you and all the muslims working and struggling for Allah's deen.

Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatoh

It is narrated on the authority of Safinah (Radiallahu Anhu) that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “The Caliphate (of Nubuwwat) will continue for 30 years after my demise. Thereafter, there will be kingdom”. (Tirmizi, Hadith: 2152)

The Khilafat of Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthmaan and Ali (Radiallahu Anhum) was within the 30 years which is referred to in this Hadith. This is why the Ulama have classified these four respective Khalifa’s as the Khulafa Rashideen. Regarding Mu’awiyah (Radiallahu Anhu), despite his virtues, merits and high rank of a Sahabi, he was not a Khalifa. Rather he was a king as he attained ruler ship after the 30 years which Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) mentioned in the Hadith. The Hadith itself mentions that after the 30 years, Caliphate will no longer remain, rather, kingdom will prevail. (Tuhfatul Ahwazi, commentary of Tirmizi)
