When do we have to wipe the neck in wudu, after we have wiped the head , or after the ears are washed?

When do we have to wipe the neck in wudu, after we have wiped the head , or after the ears are washed? There is a hadeeth in Bukhari and Muslim indicates to do together  while wiping to head.

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatoh

The words Qafa means the back portion of the head which is done while making masah of the head. Masah of the nape is a different action all together.  The word in Arabic for nape is Raqabah.  The correct manner to do masah of the nape is that is should be done after the masah of the ears.

The above mentioned Hadith is in Tabrani’s Mu’jam Al-Kabir.  The masah of the nape is mentioned after the Masah of the ears.

And Allah knows best
